This short section of rail is to fit the Universal Interface system, found on the ring caps of certain picatinny rings. Secured on with 4 screws, included with the mount.

The picatinny rail is offset and angled at 45º, so when mounting an additional component such as a torch or IR lamp, it doesn't sit centrally in the line of sight.
